Yes, Twitter has finally opened OAuth to all of its developers, and why is this important you ask? Well, as many of you might know, Twitter has become the target of many phishing attempts as of late. Websites posing as a friendly Twitter application or Twitter itself were snatching Twitter logins and passwords left and right. As you might have guessed, the usernames and passwords were not used in a polite manner.
With Twitter OAuth, Twitter applications now have a way to verify user identity without asking for a username and password. Those credentials remain the private property of the user – but he or she still gets access to the tool and his or her Twitter account.
